Alpendorf 3, Sankt Johann im Pongau
The 7 mills on the Pfarrwerfener Mühlbachl are unique in their kind. Water mills have been in operation here since the Middle Ages. For centuries, these "Gmachmühlen", mills with only one room, contributed to the self-sufficiency of the rural population. The picturesque mill trail shows the history and importance of grain cultivation in the historic mill buildings and brings the technology of milling to life. This provides a lively insight into the working methods and customs associated with grain.
